Minutes FMDG Meeting
January 11, 2006
This meeting was conducted by invited guest speaker, Chris Hodges, of the International Facilities Managers Association (IFMA). Mr. Hodges discussed the IFMA certification program, including how to become a certified facilities manager (CFM) as well as a facilities management professional (FMP). Discussion followed as to how this program may be made available to FMDG members. Several options were discussed. These included having an instructor come to campus, having the courses conducted through distance education, and taking the courses online. Bill Elvey was in attendance, and indicated that he is working with APPA to see if a joint venture might allow for APPA members to become certified through the IFMA program. More information will be provided as it is available.
FMDG nomination for the APPA Effective and Innovative Practices Award is in draft format. Final copy will be submitted January 30.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, February 8, 1:30 p.m. at AISB. Lucinda Jennings and Patti Irish of the University Architect’s office will present Space Planning Options. Members are encouraged to notify Dawn Maxey (firstname.lastname@example.org) of any special interest items relative to space that they wish discussed.
